Thank you to everyone that donated to our first Quarantine Quiz-Off fundraiser, a GoFundMe campaign in support of the Colonial Neighborhood Council (CNC). The CNC manages the local food bank on East 4th Avenue in Conshohocken, PA and the Meals on Wheels program for Conshohocken, Plymouth Township and Whitemarsh Township in Pennsylvania. Together, we raised $4,343 to help those less fortunate during this difficult time.
Our second campaign, will benefit the American Diabetes Association. Why? A couple of reasons.
First, our oldest daughter is Type 1 diabetic. In the last 10 years or so, we have become very passionate about the American Diabetes Association’s efforts in funding research to manage, cure and prevent diabetes (including type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, and pre-diabetes).
Second, the World Health Organization (WHO) warns that the most at-risk populations for COVID-19 are: “older persons and persons with pre-existing medical conditions (such as high blood pressure, heart disease, lung disease, cancer or diabetes).” People with these conditions seem to develop more serious illness when they contract the virus.
When it comes to COVID-19, The American Diabetes Association explains, “In China, where most cases have occurred so far, people with diabetes had much higher rates of serious complications and death than people without diabetes.”
As you may have heard me mention in earlier broadcasts, we love to produce our Quarantine Quiz-Offs and you’ve made it abundantly clear that you love them too! We have not and will not charge anything for Quarantine Quiz-Offs because it’s not about us, it’s about all of us getting through this together. We’re all experiencing tough times one way or another. But there are causes that need our help on a regular basis and especially now, our support is critical. At McM Entertainment, we’re known for putting the F-U-N in fundraising, and that’s what we’ll continue to do. Donations can be made via www.McMEnt.live. I simply ask you do what you can. $1, $2, $5, $10, $20 or more will greatly. If you feel more passionately about a local non-profit near you and you want to give to them, please do so. In either case, we appreciate your consideration.
